As many of you know, my wife's health has greatly declined over the last 3 years. She battles with severe POTS, Vascular EDS, Multi System Dysautonomia, and MCAS. She is the strongest person I know but every physical body has its limitations and these conditions have really hit her hard. Stacy hasn’t been able to eat solid food for over three years as well as been able to take most of the medications doctors have prescribed because of reactions to almost all of the excipients that are used in pharmacological compounding, even the compounding pharmacy we use can’t find suitable excipients that would be covered under insurance. For example we would end up paying close to $200 just so Stacy can take a tylenol. Insurance doesn't cover many of the supplies that are needed; like syringes for feeding tube medicine distribution, enteral syringes, split sponges for the stomach port, bathing films not to mention the over $1200 dollars it cost to get my wife the food they need because insurance won’t cover the feeding tube nutrients that will not cause reactions. All of this plus rent, utilities, car payments etc etc is all funded by my art and a lot of times it is just not enough.
